Mmmmm...for what reason? I mean, upgrading simply because there's a new version is like...Mac-tard thinking. Does the new version offer any specific bug/exploit fixes or any relevant new features? Cause otherwise it might actually be a ~bad~ idea. Especially in that the ~newest~ versions often tend to be the most ripe for exploits and such. Usually it's best to kind of stay in the middle, you don't want the latest, but you don't want the oldest either.

advanced meta/seo

This really only applies to editors and sysops who can edit the advanced meta information. You know how when you rollback it erases all that shit? but not only does it do that but it's also unchecking the follow/index buttons, so make sure you are watching that because it's gonna deindex pages from Google. Honestly, if you see any pages, main space/file/anything with those buttons unchecked, just check them, all of them. And make sure someone is going through the logs to make sure that the pages that were rolledback still have the indexed checkbox checked. Well the roolback feature is only really useful for when faggots do tons of vandal edits on the same article consecutively. And it unchecking the boxes sucks as it's often left unnoticed. I'll make sure to look for that from now on when I edit, but it's a huge nuisance. If you go to a page's history you can edit any one of those revisions by clicking on the date. Just edit the last revision before they edited. Also if you look at a user's contributions, you can see which articles are possible to rollback, but then click the history link from there. It's two extra clicks, sure, but for people who aren't me who have actual internet it's not too hard. We haven't had many people trying to make an absolute shitstain out of as many articles as possible in a while and generally undo will do the job there. A nice way to reduce animated GIF filesizes (thanks to Mr. Jonzz) for uploading to ED

Since ED has a ceiling of 2MB for uploaded files and some animated .gif files can be far larger than that, I'd like to recommend this website for use when you need to reduce the file size without butchering the quality too much.
