Within a couple months and after 5 million posts, DOLL had to shutdown the site after being unable to pay the bills, but, thanks to a wave of donations, it was able to get back up. DOLL then transferred ownership of the sharty to some individual known as "Froot".
Sure, it didn't have the same vitality as before. But that didn't matter - the site was now at retirement age, and things were kept stable thanks to its band of devoted [[jannies|jannies (they did it for free)]]. It didn't need any maintenance - because who knows or cares about PHP in 2025? They were confident that as things had been, so they would always be. 4chan had calcified, and that meant it was basically unbreakable.
