A mime type is something in a file's header that states what type of file it is and how to be read. Extensions are misleading as they don't do anything. You can have a .jpg file named image.png and a png file named image.jpg. Try changing the extension of your file to either .jpg or .gif if it's .png, .png or .gif if it's .jpg, or .png or .jpg if it's .gif.
