Rabbit Proof Fence's chief antagonist is historical figure A. O. Neville, the Chief Protector of Aboriginals in Western [[Australia]], a man who was loved by the Aborigines he cared for, and was determined to preserve their arts, history and culture. The Aborigines burned with a deep and passionate hatred for this man, one so deep that when he died, they tried to troll his family by sending hundreds of letters of condolence and thanks for all his hard work.

Neville wrote a book titled ''Australia's Coloured Minority'', in which he proved he was a racist who NEEDED TO BURN.
